USC head coach and All-American goalie at the University of Virginia, Adam Ghitelman, uses the “Las Vegas Hand and Eye” drill to train goalies to bring their top hand to the target. This innovative drill will challenge your goalkeepers to be patient and make efficient movements to secure a save.

Las Vegas Hand and Eye

Drill Summary: Have goalies stand five yards away from a coach who has a deck of playing cards. The coach throws a playing card to each player, one at a time. Players must work on making contact with the card using their top hand. Make sure athletes are watching the card all the way in and catching it or making contact. Patience is key – don’t react too soon! If it’s too windy outside, this drill can also be done indoors.
